Since June 2024, the MSF Foundation has been supporting the establishment of a women’s health rehabilitation program within the MSF project in Jahun - Northern Nigeria. Integrated into the maternity hospital’s intensive care and fistula program, physiotherapy helps women suffering from obstetric complications to recover and regain their functional abilities.
In one year, over 2,000 rehabilitation sessions have been delivered, with significant results.
This initiative, made possible through the training of four local physiotherapists, the provision of specialized equipment, and regular on-site and remote support from our specialist, represents a major step forward in the comprehensive care of women in the region.
Next step in 2025: expanding outpatient rehabilitation sessions for women experiencing functional impairments after childbirth.
